Drop-in, browse and borrow – you’re sure of a warm welcome!
You can use a PC. Please use our booking webpage to book a session. You’ll need your library card number and PIN to log in. Or give us a ring to book a session.
If you still love reading. but find it difficult to get to your local library, our Home Library Service offers you the chance to get the books that you love to read delivered straight to your door.
What’s on at Clifton Explore
All activities are free unless otherwise stated.
Under 5s Storytime: Every Tuesday 10.30-11am. Drop-in for stories and songs.
Reading Group: First Tuesday of the month 11am – 12.30pm. Please contact the library to find out the latest book. (01904) 552662
Games Club: Wednesday once a fortnight 2 – 4pm drop-in.
Boccia: Every Wednesday 2-4pm drop-in.
Under 5s Play Morning: Every Wednesday 10-11am. Drop-in to play with toys and colour pictures.
Lego Club: Every Thursday 3.45-5pm drop-in.
Stay and Play: Every Friday 10.30am-12pm. Enjoy playing with a selection of toys with your child in our children’s area. No need to book, just drop-in.

What other organisations are based at Clifton Explore?
We are delighted to be working with three new partners who will have office space and dedicated rooms at the new Centre. They are:
- Accessible Arts and Media: an inclusive arts charity.
- York Learning
- City of York Council’s Medical Needs Teaching Service for children/young people who are unable to access mainstream education.
Can I hire a Meeting Room at the new Explore Centre?
A few meeting rooms will be available for hire at Clifton. For more information, please get in touch.
Getting there
We have a car park.
Covered cycle rack outside the library.
Buses: Transdev number 19 from Exhibition Square/Rougier Street to Skelton. Stops outside on Rawcliffe Drive.
