Huntington Library Opening Hours Consultation Outcome
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback during our recent consultation on Huntington Library’s opening hours.
Following consideration of the responses received, we will be removing the library’s lunchtime closure.
This change will take effect from 26 October 2026, and Huntington Library’s opening hours will be:
Monday 10.30am until 4pm
Tuesday 10.30am until 4pm
Wednesday closed
Thursday 10.30am until 4pm
Friday 10.30am until 4pm
Saturday 9.30am to 12.30pm

Drop-in, browse and borrow – you’re sure of a warm welcome!
You can use a PC. Please use our booking webpage to book a session. You’ll need your library card number and PIN to log in. Alternatively just give us a ring to book a session.
If you still love reading. but find it difficult to get to your local library, our Home Library Service offers you the chance to get the books that you love to read delivered straight to your door.

Music Hub Library at Huntington Library.
This collection comprises more than 4000 items relating to all aspects of the teaching and performance of music from tutor books to classical symphonies and sheet music. Individual items and sets are borrowable to any music group or individual with a Music Hub library card ( you can get one of these at any York library) up to 10 pieces at a time, free of charge for a 3 month loan period and are renewable. It’s open to borrowers outside York and sets are reservable and can be sent to any York library to collect or you can come in and browse. The complete collection can be viewed via our catalogue.
What’s on at Huntington Library
All activities are free unless otherwise stated.
Under 5 Storytime: Every Friday 11.15 – 11.45am, drop-in for stories and rhymes.
Under 5 Stay and Play: Every Monday 10.30am – 12pm drop-in.
Lego+ Club: Every Tuesday 3-4 pm and every Saturday 10.30 – 11.30am. We have Lego and K’nex for you to build with, drop-in.
Games Club: Every Saturday 10.30-11.30am drop-in, suitable for all the family.
Reading Group: Meets the last Thursday of the month 2-3pm.
Poetry Group: First Thursday of the month 10.30am – 11.45am. Drop In. Bring your favourite poem to read, discuss and ‘Explore’ with other poetry lovers.
Craft Group: Every Friday 2pm. Drop-in.

Getting there
Car park available next door to Doctors’ surgery. There are 6 spaces available and 1 accessible space.
Street parking is available right outside and is free.
A bike rack is available to use outside the Doctors’ surgery.
First York Buses, 5/5A Mon-Fri service and Buses, 5/5A Saturday service have stops on the main Huntington Road outside the Working Men’s Club coming from town, and outside the school on the other side of the road going into town. The stops are a 2 minute walk from the library.
