All of our libraries have areas especially for children, where they can explore and discover our wide range of children’s books.

Books are loaned for 3 weeks and can be renewed either online or in a library. We appreciate family life can be chaotic at times, so we do not charge fines if you are late returning your child’s books.  However, we do ask that whenever possible you renew your books or return them on time.

Children being able to choose their own books not only encourages a life long love of reading but also makes it more enjoyable, especially for reluctant young readers. We have lots of books for them to choose from, providing children with opportunities to discover the right book for them.

We have colourful picture books which are visually appealing, enjoyable, and can be helpful for children who are in the early stages of developing their reading skills.

Every library has a range of Early Reader books. These range in ability from simple sentences to short chapters and are useful in supporting children in their reading development.

Our libraries are bursting with story books, enabling children to experience magical adventures, travel to new worlds or step into someone else shoes.

Be entertained and educated by the wide variety of information books available. Here you will find jokes, funny illustrations and witty text which will bring the topic alive.

We also have many children’s e-books and e-audiobooks to choose from. Take a look at our e-library to see what is available.

Reading together is a useful tool to open up conversations about feelings with children. The Reading Well for Children collection includes books that can help children deal with worries and get through a tough time.
