Haxby & Wigginton Library Café – Closure Announcement
After careful consideration, Explore has made the difficult decision to close Haxby Café. The café’s final day of trading will be Saturday 29 August 2026.
Despite the dedication of our staff and the valued support of customers, Haxby Café has faced ongoing financial challenges for some time, and it has not been possible to achieve a sustainable financial position. Closing the café is necessary to help protect the long-term sustainability of Explore and the wider services we provide.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported the café over the years, including our customers, community groups, suppliers and staff.
Explore Haxby Library will remain open and continue to operate as normal. The closure affects the café only and will not impact library services.
We are working closely with any groups or individuals affected by existing bookings and will support them in finding suitable alternative arrangements where possible.
