From Monday 5 October our Explore Centres at Acomb, Clifton, Tang Hall and York will be open again on Mondays which means you can now visit a library 6 days a week. The City Archive also re-opens this week from Wednesday 7 October. Explore’s reading cafes at Hungate and Rowntree Park and in the libraries are open as normal.
All our libraries are now open for drop-in and browsing books – there’s no need to make an appointment. Opening hours are still shorter with all libraries closing by 5pm for the time being. To visit the Archives and Local History rooms pre-booking is essential.
Explore staff have made two films to show people what to expect when visiting the library or the Archive.
More information including details about all the ways libraries are working to make sure that visits can take place safely.
