This is the latest in a series of updates, following the closure of the old Haxby Library building in July 2016.

In spring 2017, we will be introducing a new mobile library service in Haxby.  We have bought a fantastic well-equipped mobile library and we will be adding our own Explore branding to it so that it will be easily recognised at the village stops. The new mobile is much bigger than our old one and we will be able to stock many more books including large print and audio books.

Please see below for the responses to your frequently asked questions.

Where will the new mobile stop?

The new mobile library will stop in 4 locations in Haxby and Wigginton for full days so as many people from across the village as possible can access our fantastic range of services. We will advertise the stops and timetable as soon as we have a start date for the new service.

Will the opening hours change for the new mobile service?

We will be open five days a week, as we are now and each stop will be for a full day. We will stop at the same place on the same day every week so you will know when to expect us. We will be offering a wide a range of activities such as craft groups, readers groups, storytimes etc and adding some new ones as we will be working with groups in the village that have space for us to expand into on the days we stop there.

Will there be a permanent solution in the future?

Yes. We are anticipating that the mobile service will operate for the next couple of years or so. We have been, and will continue to be in discussions with the Memorial Hall about being part of their plans to redevelop the hall. However, this does not mean that we will not consider other options as they arise, if they are more feasible. Haxby is a well-loved, very well-used library so we very definitely need a more permanent solution.
